翻译补偿视角下民族文化知识英译研究——以《云南特有民族文化知识》为例

A Study on the English Translation of Ethnic Cultural Knowledge from the Perspective of Translation Compensation—A Case Study of Indigenous Ethnic Groups in Yunnan

摘要: 翻译补偿理论框架下翻译的本质是文化信息动态平衡的再创造活动，翻译是语言符号与文化内涵的双向适应性转换过程，而民族文化知识的翻译是通过补偿机制实现跨文化阐释与价值共鸣的关键话语实践。基于翻译补偿理论，以语言、文化、审美为分析框架，对民族文化知识进行英译研究，试图探寻民族文化知识英译背后的逻辑体系。通过对典型译例的深入剖析，发现民族文化知识英译的信息缺失可以采用一定的补偿手段进行弥合，体现了翻译补偿理论对民族文化知识英译的指导作用，能更好推动民族文化知识向外传播，提高我国文化软实力。

Abstract: Under the theoretical framework of translation compensation, the essence of translation is a dynamic and balanced recreation of cultural information. Translation is a bidirectional adaptive transformation process of language symbols and cultural connotations. The translation of ethnic cultural knowledge is a key discourse practice that realizes cross-cultural interpretation and value resonance through compensation mechanisms. Based on the theory of translation compensation, this paper takes language, culture and aesthetics as the analytical framework to conduct a study on the English translation of ethnic cultural knowledge, attempting to explore the logical system behind the English translation of ethnic cultural knowledge. Through in-depth analysis of typical translation examples, it is found that the information loss in the English translation of ethnic cultural knowledge can be remedied by certain compensation means, which reflects the guiding role of the theory of translation compensation in the English translation of ethnic cultural knowledge. This can better promote the outward dissemination of ethnic cultural knowledge and enhance China’s cultural soft power.
