认知语言学视角下唐诗中“花”的隐喻分析及其英译研究
Analysis of Metaphors of “Flowers” in Tang Poems from the Perspective of Cognitive Linguistics and Their English Translation Research
摘要: 隐喻是认知语言学的核心概念,指通过将具体意象与抽象概念相关联,从而传递深层含义的认知机制。这一过程既体现语言的艺术性,也为跨文化翻译带来显著挑战。在唐诗中,花为高频意象,凭借其自然特征和文化内涵形成了丰富的隐喻表达,成为认知语言学与翻译研究的典型范例。本文以《全唐诗》为语料,系统讨论花的隐喻类型,并分析许渊冲与A. C. Graham的英译本,探究译者如何通过直译保留、意象替换等翻译策略,处理汉英文化差异下的隐喻转换问题,旨在探索唐诗的语言艺术价值,以及翻译中对于隐喻的翻译转换方式。
Abstract: Metaphor is a core concept in cognitive linguistics, referring to the cognitive mechanism that conveys deep meanings by associating concrete images with abstract concepts. This process not only embodies the artistry of language but also presents significant challenges for cross-cultural translation. In Tang poems, flowers are a high-frequency image, forming rich metaphorical expressions through their natural characteristics and cultural connotations, and serving as a typical example for cognitive linguistics and translation studies. This paper uses “The Complete Collection of Tang Poems” as its corpus to systematically discuss the types of flower metaphors and analyzes the English translations by Xu Yuanchong and A. C. Graham, exploring how translators handle the issue of metaphorical transformation under the cultural differences between Chinese and English through translation strategies such as literal translation and image replacement. The aim is to explore the linguistic artistic value of Tang poetry and the methods of translating metaphors in translation.
