An Analysis of Textual Function of Nominalization in English News Discourse

摘要: 名物化是一种常见的语言现象。基于韩礼德的系统功能语法理论，名物化是实现语法隐喻的重要手段。新闻语篇作为信息传播的主要媒介，要求语言精炼简洁、客观公正，向读者传递最新、最真实的信息，读者在快速获取信息的同时，提升英语阅读学习能力。本文将以系统功能语言学为理论基础，分析英语新闻语篇中的名物化结构，阐释其在新闻中的语篇功能，以便帮助读者了解新闻正式文体特征、准确提取有效信息并提升分析鉴赏英语新闻语篇的能力。

Abstract: Nominalization is a common linguistic phenomenon. Based on Halliday’s systemic and functional grammar theory, nominalization is an important means to realize grammatical metaphor. As the main media of information dissemination, news discourse requires concise, objective and fair language to convey the latest and most authentic information to readers, who can quickly acquire information and improve their English reading and learning ability. Based on the theory of systemic and functional grammar, this paper attempts to analyze the nominalization structure of English news discourse and explain its textual function in English news discourse, so as to help readers understand the formal stylistic characteristics of news discourse, accurately extract effective information and improve their ability to analyze and appreciate English news discourse.
