从文化适应性角度探讨《红楼梦》服饰制作工艺词汇的可译性限度

摘要: 《红楼梦》是中国古代文学的璀璨明珠，其对服饰的细腻描写不仅生动展现了清代贵族的生活风貌，更蕴含着丰富的文化内涵。关于《红楼梦》服饰翻译的研究成果众多。本文聚焦于文化适应性，选取杨宪益、戴乃迭译本A Dream of Red Mansions和大卫·霍克思、闵福德译本The Story of the Stone，深入探讨《红楼梦》中服饰制作工艺词汇的可译性限度，分析翻译过程中所面临的挑战，并提出相应的解决策略。
Abstract: As a brilliant pearl of ancient Chinese literature, A Dream of Red Mansions vividly portrays the lifestyle of the Qing Dynasty aristocracy through its detailed descriptions of clothing, while also embedding rich cultural connotations. Numerous studies have been conducted on the translation of clothing in A Dream of Red Mansions. Focusing on cultural adaptability, this paper selects two full translations of the novel—A Dream of Red Mansions by Yang Xianyi and Gladys Yang, and The Story of the Stone by David Hawkes and John Minford—to explore the translatability limits of the clothing-making terminology. It also analyzes the challenges encountered in the translation process and proposes corresponding solutions.
