Abstract: Objective: To scrutinize the research progression related to the implementation of traditional Chinese exercises in prevention and rehabilitation of stroke. Methods: An exhaustive search was undertaken within the Web of Science Core Collection, spotlighting the literature published between 2004 and March 2024 that discusses the convergence of traditional Chinese exercises and stroke rehabilitation. VOSviewer and Scimago Graphica were employed for bibliometric analysis to dissect data concerning years of publication, authors, affiliations, countries, citation frequencies, and co-citation patterns. Results: A total of 132 articles were retrieved. The number of publications in this field showed an overall upward trend from 2004 to 2024. China topped the list in terms of both the volume of publications and influence in this domain, with extensive collaboration observed with the United States. Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the University of Arizona had the highest publication output, while Taylor-Piliae RE was identified as a highly cited author. The International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health stood out with the most substantial volume of publications and citation frequency, along with the highest total link strength and impact factor. Initially, keywords focused on the effects of traditional Chinese exercises on posture stability, aging, and fall prevention among elderly populations. Over time, research attention shifted to areas such as gait, balance, cognition, and quality of life. Current trends include aspects like motor function recovery, mental health, and sleep quality. Conclusion: Traditional Chinese exercises have gained widespread application and an increasing trend in the clinical practice of stroke prevention and rehabilitation. The mental health and sleep quality of stroke patients may emerge as key areas of focus for future research on interventions using these traditional exercises.
