Visual Mapping Analysis of Informal Digital Learning of English (IDLE) Based on CiteSpace
摘要: 随着技术的进步,语言社会化和实践的机会也越来越多。这种相互关系催生了计算机辅助语言学习(CALL)的一个分支领域:非正式数字英语学习(IDLE)。鉴于应用语言学家和语言教育工作者近期对IDLE的关注,本综述旨在为未来的研究提供方向,并探讨IDLE在非正式数字环境中支持英语教学和学习的潜力。通过在Web of Science核心数据库中检索1998年至2024年期间发表的相关研究,共找到90项研究,其79项符合纳入标准。结果表明,这些研究大多采用混合方法和定性研究范式,且发表于2014年至2024年之间。仅有一项研究采用了纵向数据收集方法。研究总结现有文献主要研究成果,指出了未来研究可行方向:1) 跨文化比较与弱势群体研究;2) 进行动态追踪与混合方法设计;3) 开展技术整合的生态化实践;4) 探索教师专业发展路径创新;5) 拓展多语言生态与去殖民化视角。
Abstract: With technological advancements, opportunities for language socialization and practice have proliferated. This interplay has given rise to a subfield of Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL): Informal Digital Learning of English (IDLE). Given recent scholarly attention to IDLE from applied linguists and language educators, this review aims to chart future research directions and examine IDLE’s potential in supporting English teaching and learning within informal digital environments. Through a systematic search of the Web of Science Core Collection database for relevant studies published between 1998 and 2024, 90 studies were identified, 79 of which met the inclusion criteria. Results indicate that most studies adopted mixed-methods and qualitative paradigms and were published between 2014 and 2024. Only one study utilized longitudinal data collection. The review synthesizes key findings in existing literature and proposes actionable future research avenues: 1) Cross-cultural comparisons and studies on marginalized populations; 2) Implementation of longitudinal tracking and mixed-methods designs; 3) Development of ecologically grounded practices integrating technology; 4) Exploration of innovative teacher professional development pathways; 5) Expansion into multilingual ecologies and decolonial perspectives.
