From Land Attachment to Cultural Identity: The Historical Evolution and Contemporary Continuity of Chinese Hometown Sentiment

摘要: 本文以中国乡土情感的历史嬗变与当代延续为核心议题，根据维果茨基的文化历史发展理论探讨其在全球化与城市化背景下的演变逻辑。通过文献分析研究发现：传统乡土情感虽因物理空间疏离、宗族制度瓦解及文化符号异化而呈现表层淡化，但乡土情感的核心内核，即对血缘纽带、文化根源和精神归属的珍视，依然坚韧。当代乡土情感通过数字技术、创新实践和象征性表达实现了创造性转化与韧性延续，呈现出从“土地依附”向“文化认同”、从“物理返乡”向“精神原乡”的范式转换。其深层的延续性源于历史传承的连续性、社会文化的稳定性、语言符号的内化、家庭社区的影响及地理环境的相对稳定。同时，研究也警示数字技术在重构情感路径时伴生的商品化、算法化与虚拟化异化风险，强调需在技术便利与情感本真性之间寻求平衡发展。

Abstract: This article focuses on the historical evolution and contemporary continuity of Chinese hometown sentiment, exploring its evolutionary logic in the context of globalization and urbanization based on Vygotsky’s theory of cultural historical development. Literature analysis reveals that while traditional hometown sentiment has superficially faded due to physical alienation, the disintegration of the clan system, and the alienation of cultural symbols, its core—the cherishment of blood ties, cultural roots, and spiritual belonging—remains resilient. Contemporary hometown sentiment has achieved creative transformation and resilient continuity through digital technology, innovative practices, and symbolic expression, demonstrating a paradigm shift from “land attachment” to “cultural identity” and from “physical return to hometown” to “spiritual homeland.” Its deeper continuity stems from the continuity of historical heritage, the stability of social culture, the internalization of linguistic symbols, the influence of family and community, and the relative stability of the geographical environment. At the same time, the study also warns of the risks of commoditization, algorithmization, and virtual alienation associated with digital technology’s reconstruction of emotional pathways, emphasizing the need to strike a balance between technological convenience and emotional authenticity.
