老子“小国寡民”思想的科学性维度
On the Scientific Dimension of Laozi’s Concept of “a Small State with a Sparse Population”

摘要: “小国寡民”思想在今天的学界主要持有三种解释论调;退化论、乌托邦式的政治理想论以及统治术。然学者都从文本意思入手作保守解读。深谙“道”运行之理以及辩证逻辑的老子不可能提出开历史倒车,提出与“道之发展”相背离的退化论以及文明批判论的基调;深谙“无我”、“无为”之认识论的老子,也不可能因其自身时代的客观局限性,提出理想国式的主观性意愿,不会将道下降为“术”的层面从而演绎成一种统治术。本文通过老子《道德经》通篇的思想逻辑与基本态度,并借以现代科学熵增理论,以表明老子“小国寡民”思想的科学性。
Abstract: In contemporary academia, Laozi’s concept of a “small state with a sparse population” is primarily interpreted through three perspectives: the theory of retrogression, the utopian political ideal, and the art of governance. However, scholars have generally adopted a conservative interpretation based solely on the literal meaning of the text. Laozi, who profoundly understood the operation of the Dao and dialectical logic, could not have proposed a regressive theory or a critique of civilization that contradicts the “development of the Dao”. Similarly, well-versed in the epistemology of “non-self” (wuwo) and “non-action” (wuwei), Laozi would not, due to the objective limitations of his era, have advanced a subjective wish for an ideal state, nor would he have reduced the Dao to the level of “technique” (shu), thereby interpreting it as a mere art of governance. This paper demonstrates the scientific validity of Laozi’s concept of “a small state with a sparse population” by examining the overarching philosophical logic and fundamental stance throughout his “Dao De Jing”, while also drawing parallels with the modern scientific theory of entropy increase.
