Abstract: In Uyghur, the dubitative mood—also referred to as the mood of uncertainty—is expressed primarily through grammatical constructions and lexical means. Accurate interpretation and appropriate use of this mood are essential in daily communication, where it plays a significant role in conveying the speaker’s attitude and level of certainty. This paper undertakes a comprehensive examination of the dubitative mood in Uyghur, focusing on its semantic characteristics, formal expressions, and pragmatic functions, with the aim of elucidating its linguistic significance and underlying nature.
