Abstract: With the growing prevalence of mental health issues among adolescents, particularly depressive disorders linked to childhood trauma, researchers have increasingly focused on developing effective treatment approaches. In recent years, Eye-Mind-Body Reprocessing (EMDR) has emerged as a validated therapeutic approach for complex post-traumatic stress disorder (cPTSD) and related depressive symptoms. This study synthesizes existing research to examine EMDR’s efficacy in alleviating depressive symptoms, improving emotional regulation, and facilitating cognitive restructuring. It further analyzes the neurobiological mechanisms underlying EMDR’s effectiveness while comparing it with other trauma therapies, highlighting their respective advantages and limitations. Additionally, the paper discusses phased design strategies for treatment protocols and outlines future research directions, aiming to provide theoretical foundations for clinical practice and advance precision treatment for adolescent depression associated with childhood trauma.
