Abstract: This review paper delves into the issue of potential intestinal obstruction following subtotal gastrectomy. The literature is categorized into five main domains: surgical treatment of gastrointestinal diseases and postoperative complications, gut microbiota and immune regulation, pathological mechanisms and diagnostic studies, nursing and patient management, and meta-analysis and clinical evaluation of surgical operations. Within the literature on surgical treatment of gastrointestinal diseases, the impact of various surgical methods on gastrointestinal tumors, postoperative anti-reflux, and adhesive intestinal obstruction is discussed. Gut microbiota studies reveal the potential value of probiotics in regulating digestive system inflammation and the correlation between dysbiosis and colitis. Studies on pathological mechanisms and diagnosis provide profound insights into the pathological characteristics and clinical diagnosis of post-gastrectomy intestinal obstruction. Research on nursing and patient management focuses on nursing interventions and improving patient satisfaction post-gastrointestinal surgery. Surgical-related meta-analysis literature assesses the impact of different surgical interventions on postoperative complications. By comprehensively analyzing these studies, this paper aims to reveal the risk factors for intestinal obstruction following subtotal gastrectomy and provide corresponding prevention and management strategies.
