A Comparative Study and Appreciation of Shakespeare Translations by Zhu Shenghao and Liang Shiqiu

摘要: 梁实秋和朱生豪是我国最早对莎士比亚作品进行系统翻译并取得非凡成就的两位翻译家，其莎译的影响力和流传度更是鲜有匹敌，对莎剧在中国的传入作出了巨大贡献。但由于两人的文学观、学识以及生活阅历等不同，对翻译策略就有了不同的选择，导致了各自译本迥然不同的风格。本文旨在通过对梁译本和朱译本进行对比分析，从语言风格、翻译策略、文化传递等方面进行对比，评析其翻译艺术和对莎士比亚文学精神的传达，探究各自的翻译策略以及译文特点，并从中汲取戏剧翻译的恰当方法。

Abstract: Liang Shiqiu and Zhu Shenghao are two of the earliest translators in China who systematically translated Shakespeare’s works and achieved remarkable success. Their translations have a significant influence and are widely spread, making huge contributions to the introduction of Shakespearean drama in China. However, due to differences in their literary views, academic backgrounds, and life experiences, they made different choices in their translation strategies, resulting in distinctly different styles in their respective translations. This paper aims to compare and analyze Liang’s and Zhu’s translations in terms of language style, translation strategies, and cultural transmission, assessing their translation art and the conveyance of Shakespeare’s literary spirit. By exploring their individual translation strategies and the characteristics of their translations, this paper seeks to draw insights into the appropriate methods for translating drama.
