Cultural Transformation in Lyric Translation: The Dynamic Choice between Domestication and Foreignization

摘要: 歌词翻译作为一种特殊的文学翻译，不仅涉及文本层面的语言转换，更承载着文化意义的传递功能。由于中英存在语言和文化背景差异，以及歌曲的文学与艺术双重属性，歌词翻译在追求忠实通顺的同时，还需兼顾歌唱性与审美体验。本文从文化转换出发，探讨歌词翻译中的文化挑战，并结合具体案例，分析歌词翻译中归化和异化策略的实际运用与效果。通过分析不同策略对歌曲意境传达和文化转换的影响，本文提出应在翻译过程中实现归化与异化的动态平衡，以期在跨文化语境中产出既尊重源语文化、又符合目标语受众习惯的优质歌词译文。

Abstract: As a unique form of literary translation, lyric translation involves not only linguistic transfer at the textual level but also the transmission of cultural meaning. Due to linguistic and cultural differences between Chinese and English, as well as the dual literary and artistic nature of songs, lyric translation must strive for fidelity and fluency while also considering sing ability and aesthetic appreciation. From the perspective of cultural transformation, this paper explores the cultural challenges in lyric translation and analyzes the practical application and effects of domestication and foreignization strategies through case studies. By examining the impact of different strategies on the conveyance of the song’s artistic conception and cultural meaning, this paper advocates for a dynamic balance between domestication and foreignization during the translation process, in an effort to produce high-quality translated lyrics in cross-cultural contexts that respect the source culture and meet the expectations of the target audience.
