Whether it’s the “Shangxiao’s” solitary rise and fall in the world, his relationship with the villagers, or the radiant freedom he embodies, all of these resonate with the core spirit of existentialism, facilitating an existentialist interpretation. This article interprets “The Scent of Eternity” from the perspectives of “the individual,” “the individual’s relationship with others,” and “freedom,” seeking to explore further possibilities within the text.
