古文字英译的空缺现象及翻译补偿方法探析
An Analysis of Loss and Compensation Strategies in Translating Ancient Chinese Scripts into English
摘要: 近年来，随着国家“古文字与中华文明传承发展工程”的推进，甲骨文等古文字研究这一“冷门绝学”日益受到学术界重视。作为中华文明的重要载体，古文字在实证中华五千多年文明史、传承弘扬中华优秀传统文化等方面具有不可替代的学术价值。由于存在造字系统、宗教信仰和思维方式的差异，就会导致翻译古文字时，英文中没有十分恰当的表达，因此产生语义空缺、文化空缺、审美空缺现象。本文对古文字英译中语义、文化和审美空缺进行分析，刨析这些现象存在的原因，提出要尽可能弥补英译产生的损耗，需要通过补偿策略弥补古文字英译中的空缺，以促进古文字之间更好地翻译。
Abstract: In recent years, China’s national project on ancient scripts and civilization has drawn new attention to oracle-bone inscriptions and other “rare fields”. As key carriers of Chinese civilization, these scripts provide unique proof of China’s 5000-year history and its cultural heritage. Yet differences in writing systems, religion, and thought often leave English without exact matches, causing gaps in meaning, culture, and aesthetics. This dissertation analyzes these gaps in translating ancient scripts, explains their causes, and argues that targeted compensation strategies are needed to reduce loss and improve English renditions.
