关联理论视角下的《冰与火之歌》汉译本赏析

Appreciation of the Chinese Translation of A Song of Ice and Fire from the Perspective of Relevance Theory

摘要: 《冰与火之歌》是美国作家乔治·R·R·马丁(George R. R. Martin)创作的长篇史诗奇幻小说。故事围绕着维斯特洛大陆上各个家族之间的权力斗争展开。各个家族为了争夺王位、领土和财富，不断进行战争和政治阴谋。本文借助斯珀波与威尔逊于1867年在《关联性：交际与认知》中提出的关联理论为指导，对谭光磊、屈畅汉译本进行赏析。从文本层面看，通过分析语言表达与语境的关联，揭示了作者如何巧妙运用词汇、语法和修辞手段来传达信息和塑造人物形象。在叙事结构方面，探讨了故事线索的交织、情节的转折与读者认知语境的互动，展现了作品的复杂性和吸引力。同时，还研究了文化元素在作品中的呈现与传递，以及读者如何通过关联推理来理解和感受不同文化背景下的人物和事件，为跨文化文学研究提供了有益的视角。

Abstract: A Song of Ice and Fire is a long-form epic fantasy novel created by the American writer George R. R. Martin. The story revolves around the power struggles among various noble families on the continent of Westeros, where these families incessantly engage in wars and political intrigues to compete for the throne, territories, and wealth. Guided by the Relevance Theory proposed by Dan Sperber and Deirdre Wilson in their 1986 work Relevance: Communication and Cognition and this paper offers an appreciation of the Chinese translation by Tan Guanglei and Qu Chang. From the textual level, by analyzing the correlation between linguistic expressions and context, this paper reveals how the translator skillfully employs lexical choices, grammatical structures, and rhetorical devices to convey information and shape character images. In terms of narrative structure, it explores the interweaving of storylines, the interaction between plot twists and the reader’s cognitive context, thereby demonstrating the complexity and appeal of the work. Additionally, the paper examines the presentation and transmission of cultural elements in the novel, as well as how readers understand and perceive characters and events rooted in different cultural backgrounds through relevance-based reasoning. This study provides a valuable perspective for cross-cultural literary research.
