Abstract: Yili Uyghur jokes are an oral literary art form among the Uyghur people and are also known as “chak chak”. As a culture closely related to life, Yili Uyghur jokes vividly reflect the local Uyghur people’s way of life, personality traits, and emotional world. Guided by linguistic theories, this paper focuses on analyzing the characteristics of Yili Uyghur from three phonetic aspects: sound imitation and homophonic puns, exaggerated intonation, and repetition and rhythm, aiming to reveal its unique mechanism of humor generation and the cultural connotations it carries.
