体认翻译学在谚语英译中的应用

Application of Embodied-Cognitive Translatology in the English Translation of Proverbs

摘要: 谚语是具有历史深度和现实广度的民间智慧成果，是对普遍经验的规律性总结。其表达的生动性、意象的丰富性、寓意的深刻性、使用的普遍性等使其在我国广为流传。本文依据体认翻译学“现实–认知–语言”的核心原则，对典籍中的谚语及其英译的体认过程进行解读，探讨谚语翻译策略及其翻译效果，证实体认翻译学三层次观在谚语英译研究中的适用性，助力于促进中外文化的交流与互鉴，更好地展现中国谚语的独特魅力和深邃内涵。

Abstract: Proverbs represent a distillation of folk wisdom with both historical depth and contemporary relevance, encapsulating universal experiences through regular patterns. Their widespread circulation is attributable to vivid expressions, rich imagery, profound meanings, and frequent usage. Grounded in the “reality-cognition-language” principle of Embodied-Cognitive Translatology, this paper analyzes the embodied-cognitive process involved in translating proverbs from Chinese classics into English. It examines corresponding translation strategies and their effects, thereby demonstrating the applicability of the three-level framework of Embodied-Cognitive Translatology in proverb translation. The study aims to facilitate cross-cultural dialogue and mutual understanding, while more effectively showcasing the distinctive charm and intellectual depth of Chinese proverbs.
