多模态话语分析视角下外宣纪录片翻译研究——以《四季中国——小满》为例
A Study on the Translation of External Publicity Documentaries from the Perspective of Multimodal Discourse Analysis—A Case Study of “Seasons of China: Xiaoman”
摘要: 本文基于多模态话语分析理论,从文化、语境、内容与表达四个层面,对外宣纪录片《四季中国——小满》的翻译展开研究。分析表明,其翻译并非单一的语言转换,而是一个多模态协同的意义重构过程:在文化层面,译文有效传递了“小满”节气的农耕智慧与中庸哲学;在语境层面,翻译策略服务于塑造当代中国形象的外宣目的;在内容与表达层面,译文字斟句酌,并与画面、声音等模态节奏同步、意义互补,共同构建出富有感染力的中国叙事。该案例为如何通过多模态协同优化外宣翻译、助力文化有效传播提供了有益借鉴。
Abstract: Based on the theory of multimodal discourse analysis, this paper examines the translation of the external publicity documentary “Seasons of China: Xiaoman” from four dimensions: culture, context, content, and expression. The analysis reveals that its translation is not merely linguistic transfer, but rather a process of meaning reconstruction through multimodal synergy. On the cultural level, the translation effectively conveys the agricultural wisdom and the philosophy of the Golden Mean embodied in the “Xiaoman” solar term. On the contextual level, the translation strategies serve the overarching purpose of shaping the image of contemporary China. On the content and expression levels, the translated narration is carefully calibrated to synchronize with and complement visual and auditory modes, thereby co-constructing a compelling narrative of China. This case offers valuable insights into optimizing external publicity translation and enhancing effective cultural communication through multimodal collaboration.
