Abstract: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a malignant tumor with significant global incidence and mortality rates, posing a major threat to human health. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), due to their pivotal regulatory roles in tumorigenesis and progression, have become a central focus in tumor biology research. NEAT1, a highly expressed lncRNA in the cell nucleus, has been increasingly implicated in HCC through its abnormal expression patterns and associated molecular mechanisms. Evidence suggests it plays a pivotal role in tumor cell proliferation, migration, and drug resistance. Current understanding of NEAT1’s functions remains incomplete, and its underlying mechanisms have not been fully elucidated. This review systematically summarizes NEAT1’s expression patterns, regulatory networks, and potential clinical applications in hepatocellular carcinoma, with a particular emphasis on its prospects as a diagnostic biomarker and therapeutic target. The aim is to advance the development and optimization of precision diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for hepatocellular carcinoma.
