翻译转换理论下《哈利·波特与魔法石》译本研究

A Study on the Translation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone from the Perspective of Translation Shift Theory

摘要: 《哈利·波特与魔法石》作为英国著名女作家J. K.罗琳创作的《哈利·波特》系列小说的第一部，一经出版便好评如潮。现如今此作品已被译成七十多种语言，一直以来深受着全球不同年龄段读者的喜爱。由于中西方存在的文化差异以及语言习惯的不同，在翻译过程中难免会运用到各种形式的转换技巧。本文以《哈利·波特与魔法石》译本为例，以卡特福德的翻译转换理论为基础，从其层次转换与范畴转换两个基本层面入手，分析译者在翻译过程中的取舍与选择，研究在其译作中体现的翻译转换现象，以期阐明翻译转换理论在翻译实践中的指导作用以及为文学作品的汉译提供一些参考。

Abstract: Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the first book in the Harry Potter series written by J. K. Rowling, has been widely praised since its publication. This book has been translated into more than 70 languages and has been enjoyed by readers of all ages around the world. Due to the discrepancies in culture and language habits between China and the west, various forms of shift skills are inevitably utilized in the translation process. Taking the translation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone as an example, and based on Catford’s translation shift theory, this paper analyzes the translators’ choices in the translation process from two basic aspects of level shifts and category shifts, and studies the phenomena of translation shifts reflected in their translations. This paper aims to illustrate the guiding role of translation shift theory in translation practice and provide some reference for Chinese translation of literary works.
