Abstract: The rise of the digital economy marks a new stage in the development of productive forces. This paper aims to explore how Marxist political economy, with its profound scientific rigor and foresight, demonstrates robust theoretical vitality and developmental potential in the digital era. Taking China’s rapidly expanding e-commerce model in recent years as a representative case, the article systematically elucidates the effectiveness and adaptability of core Marxist principles—such as the labor theory of value, capital circulation theory, and world market theory—in analyzing new phenomena within the digital economy. Marxist political economy provides foundational theoretical support for scientifically understanding value creation in e-commerce, the enhancement of circulation efficiency, and global market connectivity. Furthermore, it charts a practical path for effectively harnessing capital, unleashing the value of data as a production factor, and guiding the digital economy toward high-quality development and common prosperity strategies.
