SOLAS公约汉译定语从句的翻译方法研究

Research on the Translation Methods of Attributive Clauses in the Chinese Version of the SOLAS Convention

摘要: 海事法规中充斥着大量的法律术语和复杂的句子结构，其中定语从句的使用尤为频繁，它们的准确翻译对于理解和适用海事法规至关重要。本文以SOLAS公约为例，探究定语从句的翻译方法。本文首先介绍了SOLAS公约的基本概况，然后介绍了定语从句的定义，分析了定语从句翻译的难点，再通过一系列案例分析，探讨定语从句的翻译方法，最后得出结论。在进行定语从句翻译时，可以适当调整语序结构，采取前置法，拆分法、后置法和状译法来翻译。

Abstract: Maritime regulations are characterized by a plethora of legal terminology and complex sentence structures, among which the frequent use of attributive clauses poses significant challenges for translation. Accurate rendering of these clauses is crucial for the correct understanding and application of maritime legal instruments. Taking the SOLAS Convention as a case study, this paper investigates translation strategies for attributive clauses. It begins with an overview of the SOLAS Convention and a definition of attributive clauses, followed by an analysis of the difficulties inherent in their translation. Through a series of case studies, the paper explores various translation approaches and concludes that techniques such as pre-positioning, splitting, post-positioning, and converting attributive clauses into adverbial structures can be effectively employed, with appropriate adjustments to syntactic order.
