Exploration of Integrating Chinese Agricultural Farming Culture into University Labor Education—A Teaching Case Study of the Artisan Chopsticks Workshop at Chizhou University
Abstract: In the new era, how to overcome the dilemmas of “labor without education” and “education without cultural grounding” in university labor education, and how to realize its comprehensive educational value in moral cultivation, intellectual enhancement, physical strengthening, and aesthetic development, have become critical issues in current higher education reform. This paper takes the “Artisan Chopsticks” Workshop at Chizhou University as a case study. Using a case study methodology, it systematically elaborates on the background, objectives, implementation process, and effectiveness evaluation of integrating Chinese agricultural farming culture into university labor education. The case demonstrates that by using “chopsticks”—a cultural symbol embodying the essence of agricultural civilization, as a medium for labor activities, and through a teaching model of “cultural immersion-artisan practice-value internalization”, the workshop effectively achieves the organic integration of labor skill development, craftsmanship spirit cultivation, and cultural confidence building. This provides a replicable and scalable practical pathway for implementing distinctive labor education in higher education institutions.
