多模态话语分析视角下的电影字幕翻译研究——以《阿丽塔：战斗天使》为例

A Study on Subtitle Translation from the Perspective of Multimodal Discourse Analysis—A Case Study of Alita: Battle Angel

摘要: 作为一种流行的娱乐形式，电影已经成为人们日常生活的重要组成部分。然而，对于非母语人士来说，理解电影中的对话可能是具有挑战性的，因此电影的字幕翻译对电影的文化传播具有重要意义。有学者已从功能对等论和目的论等方面对字幕翻译进行研究，但在多模态话语分析方面还不完善。在多模态话语分析视角下，本文旨在分别从四个层面——文化层面、语境层面、内容层面及表达层面——对影片《阿丽塔：战斗天使》的中英文字幕翻译进行对比与分析。本文通过对《阿丽塔：战斗天使》字幕翻译的分析，揭示了不同翻译方式对翻译过程和最终结果的影响，以期为电影字幕翻译工作者提供颇有价值的建议，并期望观众通过借鉴本文能更有效地对影片进行欣赏。

Abstract: As a popular form of entertainment, movies have become an important part of people’s daily life. They can not only provide enjoyment and relaxation, but also convey cultural and social messages. However, it can be challenging for non-native speakers to understand the dialogue in movies, especially when there are linguistic and cultural differences between the source language and the target language. So, the subtitle translation of movies is of great significance to the cultural transmission of movies. Some scholars have studied subtitle translation from the perspectives of Functional Equivalence and Skopos, but it is not perfect in multimodal discourse analysis. From the perspective of multimodal discourse analysis, this thesis aims to compare and analyze the Chinese and English subtitle translations of the film Alita: Battle Angel, which is a science fiction action film based on a Japanese manga series, from four levels—culture level, context level, content level and expression level. Through the analysis of the subtitle translation of Alita: Battle Angel, this thesis reveals the impact of different translation methods on the translation process and the final result, in order to provide valuable suggestions for film subtitle translators, and hope that the audience will learn from this article and enjoy the video more effectively.
