Transcending the Tower of Babel: The Role and Impact of Text-Based Art in Cultural and Artistic Communication

摘要: 艺术与传播之间有着密切的关系，传播技术的革新不断推动艺术观念的发展，艺术的创新与实践也在不断拓宽传播路径与边界。在如今全球化的背景下，艺术与文化如何跨越民族与国家的边界，实现有效的传播与交流，是一个不可回避的问题。本文以中国当代艺术家徐冰的文字类艺术实践为主要研究对象，从文字在艺术作品中的功能出发，结合符号学与跨文化传播理论，探讨文字类艺术作品在艺术传播过程中，对构建跨文化沟通渠道方面所发挥的作用及局限性，并进一步思考其在当代艺术传播中的实践路径与理论价值。

Abstract: Art and communication are intricately linked. The evolution of communication technologies continually propels the development of artistic concepts, while innovation and practice in art, in turn, expand the pathways and boundaries of communication. In today’s globalized context, how art and culture can effectively transcend national and ethnic boundaries for dissemination and exchange is a pressing issue. Focusing on the text-based artistic practice of the contemporary Chinese artist Xu Bing, this paper examines the function of text within artworks. By integrating semiotics and cross-cultural communication theory, it explores the role and limitations of text-based art in constructing channels for cross-cultural communication within the process of artistic dissemination. Furthermore, it considers its practical pathways and theoretical significance in contemporary art communication.
