基于语料库的《边城》译本中的“翠翠”人物形象重构研究

A Corpus-Based Study on the Reconstruction of the Character Image of “Cuicui” in English Translations of The Border Town

摘要: 本文以《边城》的戴乃迭译本和金介甫译本为语料搭建语料库，使用AntConc检索工具以“翠翠”及相关人称代词为检索内容，分析两个译本重构的翠翠人物形象的共性和差异。本研究从翠翠的外貌、言行举止、心理活动以及人物关系角度分析发现翠翠是一个淳朴自然，羞涩腼腆的成长中的少女。两个译本在人物命名、叙事的时态选择、翻译策略和文化负载信息处理方式等方面分别重构了一个自然灵动而具有普世性少女形象和一个有历史厚重感的经典文学人物形象。

Abstract: A corpus is constructed based on utilizing the AntConc retrieval tool, this study conducts targeted searches for “Cuicui” and relevant personal pronouns to systematically analyze the similarities and differences in the reconstructed character image of Cuicui based on a corpus constructed with English translations of the Border Town of Gladys Yang’s and Jeffrey C. Kinkley’s versions. From the perspectives of her appearance, words and deeds, psychological dynamics, and interpersonal connections, Cuicui emerges as an unsophisticated, natural, and bashful teenage girl maturing gradually. Variations in character naming, narrative tense selection, translation strategies, and the treatment of culture-specific elements enable the two translations to respectively shape Cuicui into a natural and vivid young woman with universal appeal, and a classic literary character endowed with a profound sense of historical depth.
