西蒙东《论技术物的存在模式》中的文化思想研究

摘要: 在《论技术物的存在模式》一书中,西蒙东断言“人能统治的只有他所接受的文化”,斯蒂格勒也认为西蒙东在本书中就是在呼吁“建立一种技术的文化”。在西蒙东看来,西方历来已久的文化是一种残缺、失衡的人类中心主义的文化,在这样一种文化中技术、技术物并没有容身之地。因此,他呼吁建立一种技术的文化将以往被排斥在外的技术物、机器整合进自身,以此消除当代世界异化的主要源头、同时让人能够根据他周遭的现实去思考自身的存在及其处境。而这样一种技术的文化必须是与技术同时代的文化。在西蒙东看来技术才是人类和世界彻底变革的载体,技术物的个体化过程是一个动态、逐步的形成过程,人类与技术物之间的关系也在这个过程中不断发展。因此,作为技术物与权力、技术与人类的“调解者”的文化也必须与技术同时代、必须进行改革并逐步修正其内容。
Abstract: In On the Mode of Existence of Technical Objects, Gilbert Simondon asserts that “man can only dominate the culture he accepts,” and Bernard Stiegler also argues that Simondon’s core appeal in this work is to “establish a culture of technology.” For Simondon, the long-standing Western culture is an incomplete and unbalanced anthropocentric culture, in which technology and technical objects have no legitimate place. He thus calls for building a culture of technology that integrates previously excluded technical objects and machines into itself—aiming to eliminate the primary source of alienation in the contemporary world, while enabling humans to reflect on their own existence and predicament based on the reality around them. Such a culture of technology must be contemporary with technology. Simondon holds that technology is the carrier of radical transformation for both humans and the world; the individuation of technical objects is a dynamic and gradual process of formation, and the relationship between humans and technical objects evolves continuously in this process. Therefore, as a “mediator” between technical objects and power, as well as between technology and humans, culture must also be contemporary with technology—it must undergo reform and gradually revise its content.
