Abstract: The proposition that “true philosophy is the quintessence of the spirit of the age” originated in Hegelian philosophy. On the basis of dialectically inheriting its rational kernel, Marx endowed the proposition with the core connotations of positive revolution, practical orientation and people-first principle, thus realizing a fundamental transcendence of the Hegelian philosophical framework. Marxist philosophy embodies three essential characteristics: historical inheritance, epochal transcendence and practical criticality, which makes it the quintessence of the spirit of the age in contemporary times. With profound theoretical foundation and strong vitality, it guides the progress of the times, promotes social transformation, and provides valuable ideological resources and action guidelines for humanity to address practical challenges and create a better future.
