Research on the Phenomenon of Europeanized Chinese in English-Chinese Translation

摘要: 欧化是语言接触与演变中的显著现象，汉语在全球化进程中亦深受影响。本文旨在系统探讨英译汉过程中产生的欧化汉语现象。在理清欧化汉语内涵与历史脉络的基础上，结合近年的语料，对其在词汇、句法及语篇层面的主要表现形式进行了细化与扩充。辩证分析了欧化汉语对汉语发展的双重影响：既在词汇扩容与语法精密化方面发挥了积极作用，也可能导致汉语意合特质弱化与表达冗赘。针对其消极影响，本文重点从翻译实践角度，结合具体译例，提出了更具操作性的规避策略。最后，引入语言接触理论与翻译规范理论为分析框架，试图为理解欧化现象的本质与动因提供理论阐释。本文认为，在翻译中应秉持辩证与自觉的意识，力求在吸收外语有益成分与维护汉语本体特质之间达成平衡。

Abstract: Europeanization is a prominent phenomenon in language contact and evolution, and Chinese has been significantly influenced by this process amid globalization. This paper aims to systematically explore the manifestations of Europeanized Chinese arising from English-Chinese translation. After clarifying the concept and historical context of Europeanized Chinese, the study refines and expands upon its primary forms at the lexical, syntactic, and textual levels, drawing on recent language corpora. It dialectically examines the dual impact of Europeanization on the development of Chinese: while it has played a positive role in lexical expansion and grammatical precision, it may also weaken the paratactic nature of Chinese and lead to redundant expressions. To address its negative effects, the paper focuses on translation practice, proposing more operational avoidance strategies supported by specific translation examples. Finally, by employing theoretical frameworks such as language contact theory and translation norms, the study seeks to provide a theoretical explanation for the nature and motivations behind Europeanization. The paper argues that translation should maintain a dialectical and self-aware approach, striving to balance the absorption of beneficial foreign linguistic elements with the preservation of the inherent characteristics of Chinese.
