A Brief Discussion on Wang Shugao’s Poetic View and His Poetry Creation

摘要: 王叔杲，明代温州籍作家，英桥王氏代表人物之一。王叔杲主张“真见实际，直摅性灵”，强调诗歌需立足生活真实，直抒胸臆，反对雕琢虚饰。其早年诗作多咏史怀古，表达家国之志；晚年则寄情山水，追求隐逸之趣。其诗语言质朴自然，意境深远，既有对现实的关切，又有对宇宙人生的哲学思考。王叔杲的诗学观在王氏家学、白鹿诗社及永嘉区域文化的多重影响下形成，其创作实践反映了明代中后期文人思想的多元融合。

Abstract: Wang Shugao, a writer from Wenzhou during the Ming Dynasty, was one of the representative figures of the Wang family in Yingqiao. Wang Shugao advocated the principle of “seeing reality from reality and expressing one’s true nature”, emphasizing that poetry should be based on real life, express one’s emotions directly, and oppose embellishment. In his early years, many of his poems recited history and reminisced about the past, expressing the aspirations of his family and country; In his later years, he devoted himself to mountains and rivers, pursuing the pleasure of seclusion. His poetic language is simple and natural, with a profound artistic conception. It is not only concerned about reality, but also has philosophical reflections on the universe and life. Wang Shugao’s poetic view was formed under the multiple influences of Wang’s family school, Bailu Poetry Society, and Yongjia regional culture. His creative practice reflects the diverse integration of literati thought in the mid to late Ming Dynasty.
