关联理论视域《达洛维夫人》意识流汉译研究

A Study on the Chinese Translation of Stream-of-Consciousness in Mrs. Dalloway from the Perspective of Relevance Theory

摘要: 自20世纪中后期传入中国以来，意识流小说已成为国内学术研究的重要领域。现有成果多聚焦于文体学、翻译美学等视角，强调译者与读者之间的互动关系。作为弗吉尼亚·伍尔夫的代表作，《达洛维夫人》的相关研究虽已涉及符际翻译、语用文体等多个维度，但从关联理论视角，特别是最佳关联原则出发的翻译探讨仍显不足。本文以关联理论为框架，选取姜向明译本与王力军、林越泽、赵乐译本为研究对象，结合典型译例，系统比较两译本在处理意识流文本时为达成最佳关联所采取的不同策略。研究发现，译者对最佳关联性的追求程度与译文效果呈现显著正相关；两译本在再现意识流风格上策略各异，反映了不同的翻译理念与文本处理倾向，也为中国语境下现代主义文学的译介与研究提供了有益参照。

Abstract: Since its introduction into China in the mid-to-late 20th century, stream-of-consciousness fiction has become a significant field of study in domestic academia. Existing research has largely focused on perspectives such as stylistics and translation aesthetics, emphasizing the interactive relationship between the translator and the reader. As a representative work by Virginia Woolf, studies on Mrs. Dalloway have touched upon various dimensions including feminism, intersemiotic translation, and pragmatic stylistics. However, translation analysis from the perspective of relevance theory, particularly the principle of optimal relevance, remains insufficient. This paper adopts relevance theory as its framework, selecting Jiang Xiangming’s translation and the translation by Wang Lijun, Lin Yueze, and Zhao Le as research subjects. Through a systematic comparison of typical translation examples, it examines the different strategies employed by these two translations in handling stream-of-consciousness texts to achieve optimal relevance. The study finds a significant positive correlation between the translator’s pursuit of optimal relevance and the effectiveness of the translation. The two translations employ distinct strategies in reproducing the stream-of-consciousness style, reflecting different translation philosophies and textual processing tendencies, thereby providing a useful reference for the translation and study of modernist literature in the Chinese context.
