双重叙事进程下《他们眼望上苍》中珍妮的反边缘化身份研究
A Study on Janie’s Resistance of Marginalized Identity in Their Eyes Were Watching God under the Dual Narrative Processes
摘要: 佐拉·尼尔·赫斯顿是美国哈莱姆文艺复兴时期著名的黑人女作家之一,她的代表作《他们眼望上苍》被视为非裔女性文学经典。《他们眼望上苍》以珍妮第一人称叙述展开,通过其三段婚姻揭示了父权制对黑人女性的多重压迫。文章从申丹教授的双重叙事进程视角分析珍妮对其边缘化身份的反抗,探寻在表层婚姻叙事的显性压迫之下,珍妮的自我意识觉醒与隐性的反抗,通过双进程的互动,从而揭示黑人女性在多重压迫下重建主体性的独特路径。研究发现,珍妮的反边缘化身份贯穿于显性进程的层层压迫与隐性进程的持续反抗之间的动态张力之中;她最终通过向菲比讲述自己的故事,完成了从被书写的客体到掌握叙事权威的主体的终极转变。
Abstract: Zora Neale Hurston was one of the prominent African American female writers during the Harlem Renaissance in the United States. Her masterpiece, Their Eyes Were Watching God, is regarded as a classic of African American women’s literature. Their Eyes Were Watching God unfolds through Janie’s first-person narration, exploring the complex oppression faced by black women under patriarchy as depicted through her three marriages. This paper analyzes Janie’s resistance against her marginalized identity from the perspective of Professor Shen Dan’s dual narrative processes. This study explores how, beneath the overt oppression of superficial marital narratives, Janie’s awakening self-awareness and covert resistance interact through a dual-process dynamic. It thereby reveals the unique path through which black women reconstruct their subjectivity amidst multiple oppressions. This study reveals that Janie’s resistance of marginalized identity unfolds within the dynamic tension between the oppression of the explicit process and the persistent resistance of the implicit process. Ultimately, by telling Phoeby her own story, she completes the ultimate transformation from a subject of narration to a subject who wields narrative authority.
