摘要: 文章从赫尔曼·麦尔维尔的经典小说《白鲸》中边缘人物季奎格的角度切入，分析其在特定社会文化语境中作为“他者”的身份及其超越意义。以存在主义理论为框架，探讨他者凝视的建构与解构过程，剖析季奎格如何通过对自身文化的坚持和对死亡的坦然直视，完成对白人文明的反凝视与主体性的恢复。特别是通过对棺材象征的双重解读，揭示季奎格在死亡面前实现了多重文化的融合，并在最终的救赎性情节中实现了与以实玛利的精神共生。

Abstract: This paper examines the marginal character of Queequeg in Herman Melville’s classic novel Moby Dick, focusing on his identity as the “Other” within a specific socio-cultural context and exploring his transcendent significance. Framed within existentialist theory, the analysis delves into the construction and deconstruction of the Other’s gaze. It investigates how Queequeg, through steadfast adherence to his own cultural values and an unflinching confrontation with mortality, subverts the gaze of white civilization and reclaims his subjectivity. Special attention is given to the dual interpretation of the coffin’s symbolism, uncovering how Queequeg achieves a fusion of cultures in the face of death and ultimately attains spiritual symbiosis with Ishmael in the redemptive conclusion.
