《荨麻》中“水”的转义——门罗式叙事结构微生态架构和循环

Water Trope in “Nettles”—Construction of a Munrovian Narrative Micro-Ecology and Circulation

摘要: 爱丽丝·门罗的短篇小说《荨麻》中多次出现与水有关的意象，且每次出现都与主人公对麦克的情感有关。这些意象贯穿故事始终，不断强调爱与欲望、情感与回忆的关系，为《荨麻》创造出一种特有的叙事韵律。文章从门罗叙事中水的意象关联入手，探讨“水”在《荨麻》中从井、井状空间、井水、河流、到水边空间、游戏、雨水，再回归到井的意象关联脉络，以及如何形成从静态到动态的情感寓意流淌，生成一个与情感、欲望主题息息相关的叙事结构转义关联网络，从而构成《荨麻》特有的有机叙事微生态和循环。

Abstract: Images of water abound in Alice Munro’s story “Nettles”, and every appearance has something to do with the narrator’s feelings for Mike. These images run through the entire narrative, and keep highlighting the connections between love and desire, feelings and memories, creating a special narrative rhythm for “Nettles”. This paper investigates the links between imagery related to water, and discusses how water as a trope transforms its presence and meanings in well, or well-like spaces, well water, river, space, and game near water, rain, and then returns to the well, forming a network of imagery association. By tracing emotion’s flow from still to moving states in the story, the paper demonstrates how such flow generates a network of images closely knitted into the themes of love and desire, forming the story’s narrative microecological structure and circulation.
