Abstract: Lady Chatterley’s Lover is the 20th century British writer David Herbert Lawrence’s masterpiece in his later years. In this novel, Lawrence skillfully combines the high praise for beauty of nature with the yearning of harmonious relationship between man and nature, man and himself, man and society. Simultaneously he inputs into his novel, his deep thinking and unremitting exploration about how to establish the ideal natural home and spiritual home. Lawrence’s unique ecological aesthetic thoughts coincide with the principle of integrity and the relations between “nature and humanity” advocated in the contemporary ecological aesthetic criticism, indicating that Lawrence’s works contain the valuable humanistic spirit. Today reading his novels to have a better understanding of Lawrence’s aesthetic thoughts has a profound practical significance. It will help us reconsider the value of nature, reexamine the relationship between man and nature and evoke our consciousness about how to protect the natural resources to rebuild the harmonious beautiful world.
