Abstract: The Marriages between Zones Three, Four and Five is the second novel of Doris Lessing’s series CANOPUS IN ARGOS: ARCHIVES. In this novel, Lessing applies diverse narrative methods and ap-propriate narrative rhythm, guiding the readers to explore the root causes of the crisis and the purpose of the Provider’s Order, in which process the readers witness the ideological progression of the zones from stagnation to fluidity. And it reveals Lessing’s concern about human civilization: all countries in the world are a “community of common destiny” that interrelates and affects each other, and the advance of the world requires that all countries and regions adopt an open-minded and inclusive attitude.
