Abstract: This study translated and revised the English version of the Women’s Objectification of Women Scale (WOWS) to test the applicability under Chinese cultural context. 668 university female stu-dents, who were separated into two samples, were recruited to complete the Chinese version of the WOWS. Participants in sample 1 (n = 285) were further asked to complete the criterion. The Chinese version of the WOWS consisted of 7-item and its item-rest correlation ranged from 0.46 to 0.55 (Ps < 0.001). The exploratory factor analyses of sample 1 suggested that the presence of 1 factor, and explained 42.61% of variance. The Cronbach’s alpha of the Chinese version of the WOWS was 0.77 and the test-retest reliability coefficient was 0.83 (Ps < 0.001). The confirmatory factor analysis of sample 2 (n = 383) suggested the scale had one-factor model with better fitting indexes (RMSEA = 0.08; CFI = 0.93; TLI = 0.90; SRMR = 0.08). Women’s objectification of women showed a significantly positive correlation with appearance anxiety, eating disorder and depression (r = 0.20 - 0.30, Ps < 0.001). The Chinese version of Women’s Objectification of Women Scale has good psychometric properties, which could be employed to relevant research.
