The Writer’s Secret: Natural Description and Its Narrative Logic in Silence

摘要: 《沉默》是日本基督教作家远藤周作的重要代表作品。作品中自然描写之多是其不可忽视的特点。通过考察，可看出作品中自然描写依次呈现出“希望”、“绝望”、“救赎”三种特征，体现出“主动改善–现实恶化–实现平衡”的叙事逻辑，透过《沉默》中自然描写及其背后的叙事逻辑，可以窥见作家努力关注人性的怯懦与恐惧，试图实现神性与人性调和的秘密以及浓厚的人道主义关怀。

Abstract: Silence is an important representative work of Japanese Christian writer Endo Syuusaku. There are many natural descriptions in the works which cannot be ignored. Through the investigation, we can see that the natural description in the works presents three characteristics in turn: “Hope”, “despair” and “Redemption”, and embodies the narrative logic of “active improvement-deteriorating reality-balance”. Through the natural description in Silence and the narrative logic, we can see that the writer’s secret: try to pay attention to the cowardice and fear of human nature, and try to realize the harmonization of divinity and human, and writer’s strong humanitarian care.
