隐喻视角下英汉动物词汇的寓意对比研究——以十二生肖中的动物为例
The Comparison of Symbolic Meanings between Animal Words in English and Chinese from the Perspective of Metaphor—Taking the Animals in the Chinese Zodiac as an Example
摘要: 动物一直伴随着人类文化的发展，动物词汇贯通人类文化发展的全过程，英汉两种文化背景上的差异使得动物词汇的象征意义不尽相同。本文在认知语言学隐喻理论的视角下，对中国十二生肖形象进行分析，探究十二生肖在英汉两种语言中隐喻义的相似性和差异性及其影响因素，提高对英汉动物词汇文化内涵的理解，促进跨文化交流，并对动物词汇翻译教学以及其他文化负载词的翻译教学和研究提供借鉴。
Abstract:
Animals are closely related to the cognitive development of human beings. Animal words run through the whole process of human cultural development. The symbolic meanings of animal words are accordingly different from the backgrounds in Chinese and English culture. From the perspective of metaphor in cognitive linguistics, this paper conducts a case study on the Chinese zodiac animal words to find out the metaphorical similarities and differences as well as the factors involved in these two languages. It improves the understanding of the cultural connotation of the animal words and promotes cultural exchange. This research may provide a reference for the teaching of the translation of animal words and culture-loaded words.
