摘要: 威廉•福克纳的短篇小说《献给爱米丽的一朵玫瑰花》讲述了美国南方旧传统没落之时，小镇上一个怪诞的爱情“鬼故事”，其语言呈现出鲜明的语象叙事特征。本文从语象叙事切入，通过文本细读，从小说中的场景、人物两个方面的图像化表述阐明语象叙事与主题呈现之间的关系。本文指出，福克纳利用语象叙事，在小说中用语言勾勒出爱米丽的生存空间、绘制出一幅哥特式的“南方淑女”肖像图，体现了美国南方父权制文化下女性的悲剧，以及福克纳对美国南方淑女神话的批判。
Abstract: A Rose for Emily is a short story by William Faulkner, which relates “ghost story” about a bizarre love story in a small town during the decline of the old traditions in the southern United States. The language in this story is distinctly characterized by ekphrasis. Starting from ekphrasis and through careful reading of the text, elucidates the relationship between ekphrasis and the pres-entation of themes through visual expressions of scenes and characters in the novel. This article points out that Faulkner uses ekphrasis to narrate and outline Emily’s living space in the novel, drawing a Gothic portrait of a “Southern Lady”, reflecting the tragedy of women in the patriarchal culture of the American South, as well as Faulkner’s criticism of the fairy tales of Southern Ladies in the United States.
