The Influence of Various Emotions on the Academic Performance of College Students in English—The Multiple Mediating Roles of Enjoyment, Burnout and Anxiety
Abstract: Starting from the perspective of positive psychology, this paper adopts quantitative methods and uses combination questionnaires and tests to obtain quantitative data. A total of 254 valid subjects were included, and the data was obtained using SPSS22.0 as the research tool. Exploring the impact of three different emotions, namely pleasure, fatigue, and anxiety, on English academic performance among non-English major undergraduate students. The study demonstrated the multiple parallel mediating effects between emotional intelligence and English grades, and found that pleasure had a significant positive impact on grades, while fatigue had a greater negative impact on grades than anxiety. At the same time, this study validated the conceptual structure of emotional intelligence and found that emotional intelligence has a positive impact on English grades. This study provides some inspiration for the English teaching process of foreign language educators, which helps teachers to actively intervene in foreign language pleasure, anxiety, and fatigue, regulate the emotional health of foreign language learners, and improve foreign language performance.
