Abstract: The liver, the largest internal organ in the human body, is responsible for a variety of critical functions, including metabolism, detoxification, storage, and bile production. Liver surgery involves the diagnosis, treatment, and repair of the liver using surgical methods. Consequently, liver surgery encompasses numerous complex techniques and delicate procedures. Controlled hypotension is a critical anesthesia technique extensively utilized in clinical surgical procedures. Its primary objectives are to protect vital organs, minimize intraoperative bleeding, enhance surgical visualization, thereby improving the safety and efficacy of the surgery. Controlled hypotension holds significant clinical value in liver surgery. This article will review the related research and advancements in both fields.
