纪录片《美丽中国》字幕英译的语言审美研究

A Language Aesthetics Research on C-E Translation of the Subtitles for the Documentary Amazing China

摘要: 纪录片作为展现国家形象、促进跨文化交流的重要载体，其字幕翻译在传播过程中发挥着关键作用。本文基于刘宓庆翻译美学基础理论，从语言视角探讨纪录片《美丽中国》字幕英译本中的美学价值在形式系统和非形式系统的体现，最终达到中国文化对外传播的效果。英译本中语音叠词、四字格的翻译，词语的锤炼，比喻的使用，对排比句式的移植，以及译者发挥主观能动性对原文深层次意象和情感的归化式处理，使《美丽中国》的英译字幕呈现出显著的语言魅力，从而提高审美主体的情感操控力，提升中国文化译语的美学意味，推动中国文化的对外交流与传播。

Abstract: Documentaries serve as crucial vehicles for showcasing national image and fostering cross-cultural communication, with subtitle translation playing a pivotal role in their dissemination. This paper, grounded in Liu Miqing’s foundational theory of translation aesthetics, explores the aesthetic value embodied in the English subtitles of the documentary “Amazing China” from a linguistic perspective, focusing on both formal and non-formal systems, ultimately aiming for the effective international propagation of Chinese culture. The translation of phonetic repetitions, four-character expressions, word refinement, metaphors, the transplantation of parallel sentence structures, and the translator’s active assimilation of deeper imagery and emotions in the original text, collectively enhance the linguistic charm of the English subtitles of “Amazing China”. This enhancement not only elevates the emotional control of the aesthetic subjects but also augments the aesthetic significance of Chinese culture in its translated form, thereby facilitating its international exchange and dissemination.
