从目的论视角下研究《围城》英译本中文化负载词

Research on the Culture-Loaded Words in the English Translation Version of Fortress Besieged from the Perspective of Skopos Theory

摘要: 钱钟书先生的长篇讽刺小说《围城》是中国现代文学史上一颗璀璨的明珠，被誉为“新儒林外史”。文章中含有大量特定内涵的文化负载词，这些词是译者在翻译过程中最不容忽视也是最容易造成误译的地方，同时也正是这些词对中国文化的传播起着不可替代的作用。该文运用翻译目的论，通过论证分析珍妮·凯利和茅国权合译的英译本《围城》，来探讨运用合适的翻译方法来处理《围城》中的文化负载词，使目的语的读者能更好地理解中国文化内涵。

Abstract: Fortress Besieged, a long satirical novel written by Qian Zhongshu, is a bright pearl in the history of modern Chinese literature, which is regarded as new “The Scholars”. The large number of culture-loaded words in this book are the most unnoticeable and easy to be mistranslated by the translator in the process of translation. Meanwhile, these words play an irreplaceable role in the dissemination of Chinese culture. Under the guidance of Skopos theory, the paper analyses the English translation version of Fortress Besieged by Jeanne Kelly and Nathan K. Mao to discuss the use of appropriate translation methods to deal with the culture-loaded words, so that readers of target language could better understand the connotations of Chinese culture.
