Abstract: In today’s globalized context, the importance of English as an international lingua franca has become increasingly prominent. For college students, mastering fluent English not only facilitates deeper academic research but also serves as an essential skill for future workplace competition. However, learning English within a Chinese language environment poses numerous challenges for college students. The significant differences between Chinese and English in terms of language structures, cultural backgrounds and other aspects often lead to confusion and obstacles in the process of English language learning. Therefore, conducting a thorough study on the impact of the Chinese language environment on college students’ English learning and proposing effective strategies are crucial for enhancing their English learning efficiency and quality. This article focuses on the disparities in language structures, cultural backgrounds and other aspects between English and Chinese, analyzing their specific influences on college students’ English learning. Subsequently, it offers measures to assist students in efficiently mastering English within a Chinese language environment, upgrading their overall English proficiency.
