视觉语法理论下高中英语教材插图的类型和功能分析——以人教版必修一教材(2019年)为例
Analysis of Types and Functions of Illustrations in High School English Textbooks under Visual Grammar Theory—Excerpts from Compulsory Module 1 of PEP Edition (2019 Edition)
摘要: 教材是英语教学过程中的重要教学资源,插图作为任何语言教材的基本要素,在教材中发挥着极为重要的作用。本文通过采用内容分析法,对2019年人教版高中英语必修一教材插图类型进行统计分析,并从装饰版面、促进理解、提供学习内容三个维度出发对教材插图的功能进行分析。研究发现:2019年人教版高中英语必修一教材插图主要有照片、漫画、卡通、表格、图画、流程图、地图七种类型,其中数量最多的是照片,其次是卡通和漫画;教材中约一半的插图只起到装饰版面的功能,与文本内容关系不紧密,促进理解和提供学习内容的插图数量较少,且促进理解和提供学习内容的插图主要分布在教材的练习题中。
Abstract: Textbook is an important teaching resource in the process of English teaching, and illustrations, as a basic element of any language textbook, play an extremely important role in the textbook. This paper analyzes the types of illustrations in the compulsory module 1 of PEP Edition (2019) for senior high school statistically by adopting the content analysis method, and analyzes the functions of textbook illustrations from the three dimensions of decorating the layout, promoting comprehension, and providing learning content. The study found that: the seven main types of illustrations, photographs, comics, cartoons, tables, drawings, flowcharts, and maps are used. The largest number of them are photographs, followed by cartoons and comics; about half of the illustrations in the textbook only function as decorating the layout, which is not closely related to the text content, and the number of illustrations that promote comprehension and provide content is relatively small. The illustrations that promote comprehension and provide content are mainly distributed in the practice questions of the textbook.
