新历史主义视域下《貌迎貌玛梅玛》的构建与阐释
The Construction and Interpretation of “A Couple, Yinmaung and Meima” from the Perspective of New Historicism
摘要: 在西方殖民缅甸、新旧时代交替,传统文学受西方文化强烈冲击的背景下,以《基督山伯爵》为蓝本的《貌迎貌玛梅玛》成为缅甸首部现代小说。本研究运用新历史主义理论,将小说置于创作时的历史语境中,剖析人物、情节与文化内涵,探究其在缅甸文学转型中的作用。研究表明,该小说融合缅甸传统文化与时代特征,展现东西方文化交融,推动缅甸文学从传统向现代转型。其人物与情节反映殖民背景下的社会现实和文化冲突,具有鲜明的历史与时代特色。通过新历史主义分析,有助于理解殖民时期缅甸文学的特质、意识形态与文化倾向,揭示社会的复杂多样性,深化对缅甸文学文化转型的认知。
Abstract: Against the backdrop of Western colonization of Myanmar, the transition between eras, and the strong impact of Western culture on traditional literature, “A Couple, Yinmaung and Meima”, modeled after “The Count of Monte Cristo”, emerged as Myanmar’s first modern novel. This study employs New Historicism to situate the novel within its historical context, analyzing its characters, plot, and cultural significance to explore its role in Myanmar’s literary transformation. The findings reveal that the novel blends traditional Myanmar culture with contemporary influences, showcasing the fusion of Eastern and Western cultures and facilitating Myanmar’s shift from traditional to modern literature. Its characters and plot reflect the social realities and cultural conflicts under colonial rule, exhibiting distinct historical and temporal characteristics. Through a New Historicist lens, this study contributes to understanding the unique traits, ideologies, and cultural tendencies of Myanmar literature during the colonial period, uncovering the complexities of society and deepening insights into Myanmar’s literary and cultural transformation.
