摘要: 本文以弗雷德里克·詹姆逊的“后现代时间停滞”理论为框架，剖析格雷厄姆·斯威夫特在《水之乡》中如何呈现“永恒的当下”这一时间困境。通过考察小说的非线性叙事、人物命运与地理空间三个维度，研究发现：历史教师汤姆的讲述行为解构了线性历史，却陷入时间的空间化循环；其妻玛丽因创伤经历遭遇“去未来化”，生命停滞于现在；而沼泽地与人物迪克则共同象征着一种前历史的、永恒循环的时间秩序。结论指出，小说不仅是后现代时间危机的文学样本，更对后帝国时代英国的精神困境作出了深刻诊断。

Abstract: This paper employs Fredric Jameson’s theory of “postmodern temporal stagnation” to analyze how Graham Swift’s Waterland portrays the temporal predicament of a “perpetual present”. Through an examination of the novel’s three key dimensions—nonlinear narrative, character destinies, and geographical space—the study reveals that the history teacher Tom Crick’s storytelling deconstructs linear history, only to trap him in a spatialized cycle of narration; his wife Mary, due to traumatic experiences, undergoes “de-futurization”, leaving her life stranded in the present; while the Fens landscape and the character Dick together symbolize a prehistorical, eternally cyclical temporal order. The conclusion posits that the novel serves not only as a literary exemplar of postmodern temporal crisis but also as a profound diagnosis of the spiritual dilemma in post-imperial Britain.
