空间叙事视角下《潜水鸟》中少数族裔的生存困境研究

Research on the Survival Dilemmas of Minority Groups in The Loons from the Perspective of Spatial Narrative

摘要: 本文以空间叙事理论为核心视角，聚焦玛格丽特·劳伦斯短篇小说《潜水鸟》，通过文本细读解析自然空间、族群空间与主流空间的特征及转换机制。研究发现，钻石湖的变迁象征梅蒂斯族精神家园的消解，皮格特小屋的封闭反映少数族裔的社会疏离状态，瓦妮莎家的体面暗含主流社会的文化规范。三类空间的互动与变迁，不仅塑造了少数族裔的身份特征，更串联起梅蒂斯原住民的生存困境。本文结合索亚“第三空间”、巴什拉“家宅”理论，突破现有研究的表层化局限，深挖空间与少数族裔生存困境的内在逻辑，揭示不同群体互动中空间所承载的文化张力，为同类文学作品的解读提供新路径。

Abstract: Taking the spatial narrative theory as the core perspective, this paper focuses on The Loons, a short story by Margaret Laurence, and analyzes the characteristics and transformation mechanisms of natural space, ethnic space and mainstream space through close textual reading. The study finds that the changes of Diamond Lake symbolize the dissolution of the Métis Aboriginal people’s spiritual homeland, the enclosed nature of Piquette’s cabin reflects the social alienation of ethnic minorities, and the respectability of Vanessa’s home implies the cultural norms of mainstream society. The interaction and changes of these three types of spaces not only shape the identity characteristics of ethnic minorities, but also connect the living predicament of the Métis indigenous people. Combined with Soja’s “Third Space” theory and Bachelard’s “house” theory, this paper breaks through the superficial limitations of existing research, explores the internal logic between space and the living predicament of ethnic minorities in depth, reveals the cultural tension carried by space in the interaction of different groups, and provides a new path for the interpretation of similar literary works.
